I work everyday for the feeling of oneness with the creatures of nature, how I might feel to be the fish. The tree or the wild horse. My garden is a lush place where I talk to plants and share poems in a poetry box with people walking their dogs. Website: triciaknoll.com
Catch & Release
The trout fisherman’s poem flew in by email today.
Why he thinks trout bite, why he lets them go.
Next in line the neighbor’s plea – a golden lab puppy
tore out the back door with a blue collar and a romping thirst.
That fly the President caught in his fist,
a grab others try and mostly fail.
We are catchers. We net.
We trap elephants. Able now and then
to lean a cheek against the bay gelding’s withers
and say big heart, go,
run for all you are worth
while I rest on this fractured fence,
hold your halter
and sing how beautiful you are.
