I am a transplant from Philadelphia, PA and retired college educator who has become part of the thriving poetry community of Southern California, which includes some of our fellow VVers. I keep myself busy writing, doing open mics and other readings as often as possible, practicing yoga, and enjoying the gorgeous climate in this area.
Apocalypse After the painting, The Gray and Gold (Cleveland Museum of Art), by John Rogers Cox (1942), Here is the crossroads we’ve all come to, under storm clouds piled high as granite, midwinter snow, lending illusory depth to the flattest of territories. The wheat glows gold, fields neat as a pair of crustless sandwiches, cut just so. All of nature in order, but about to break loose. This is the moment before it all unravels, the fences broken, the wheat trampled, burning, wild river of rain running red through the road. |
