I started writing when I was 15, trying to “Crystal Blue Persuasion” the poetry world. 46 years have passed since then, taking all of a single second. Just released from Urban Farmhouse Press is my book of poems called Booking Rooms in the Kuiper Belt. Also available: Bend of Quiet from Blue Light Press.
Pep Rally
Coach said that young guys
(he meant us) could talk
a better sexual performance
than do it. He assumed
his adept performance.
Gym was always a performance,
faking interest in where
balls go. I faked enough to pass.
The locker room taught me
to stuff questions in my gym bag.
Not a class—a pep rally
for straight life. Clap
or they circle you
in the parking lot.
