June 2016
E D I T O R ' S N O T E
Dear V-Vs,
When I offer themes for monthly issues of V-V, they are always optional. As inspiring as they might be, themes can also limit creativity; and anyhow I don't want issues that consist of one poem after another about the same subject (regardless of its variation). It gets boring. I need some variety.
The optional theme for June was TWO. Whence? June is the month of weddings. (Oddly enough I got poems about marriages — but few — if any — about weddings. Go figure.)
We'll take a rest from themes in July. It's time to have a completely open issue. So let your inspiration be boundless. Please remember that I accept submissions only during the first two weeks of the month prior to the issue month, e.g., during the first two weeks in June for the July issue.
V-V is doing very well. Yes, of course the poems are excellent. But I am talking about our community, our family, our village. Much interaction is happening between poets. Good friendships abound; new ones are constantly being made. Also I have heard from quite a few of the less-experienced poets that you have acted as mentors to them. Now THAT really makes me happy. These are the things which separate Verse-Virtual from the literary-journal establishment.
Thanks for your care and your enthusiasm and your help.
Sincerely yours,
Firestone
