I started writing when I was 15, trying to “Crystal Blue Persuasion” the poetry world. 46 years have passed since then, taking all of a single second. Just released from Urban Farmhouse Press is my book of poems called Booking Rooms in the Kuiper Belt. Also available: Bend of Quiet from Blue Light Press.
New Thoughts and Prayers
Dear Lord,
Please do us all a favor and wipe out people,
every one, no exceptions.
Some are kind, some show courage, some write symphonies--
even still, get rid of the whole crappy lot. Complicit
in how badly we turned out, you let us evolve.
Why didn’t you stop it before we became—us?
We’re a midnight snack. Devour and relax.
Save a few poems, a few paintings, if you like.
No mercy on me, no mercy on the next generation.
Give the polar bears and white rhinos a chance.
But no chance, no forgiveness for us.
It’s too late for that. Dance
on our collective grave. I envy you
watching dawn coral up a people-free world.
Amen.
