political storm
rolling hills inch
towards the tilted horizon
the stubble of finger-like trees
hues of another day’s sunset
a color palette of grays and blacks
reach into a twilight’s sky
long shadows dance
in the stiff winter wind
i have not forgotten
this week’s political storm
nor has the world
but i choose
to share this moment
one of tranquility and peace
together, we are never alone
tomorrow the sun will surely rise
and tonight, is one made for sleep
we must weather this storm
one people, collectively
rolling hills inch
towards the tilted horizon
the stubble of finger-like trees
hues of another day’s sunset
a color palette of grays and blacks
reach into a twilight’s sky
long shadows dance
in the stiff winter wind
i have not forgotten
this week’s political storm
nor has the world
but i choose
to share this moment
one of tranquility and peace
together, we are never alone
tomorrow the sun will surely rise
and tonight, is one made for sleep
we must weather this storm
one people, collectively
