I was born in Calabar, Nigeria and lived, among other places, in Egypt and England before settling near Boulder, Colorado with my wife and four children. I'm a computer engineer by trade, but poetry is my passion. My chapbook, Ndewo, Colorado is a Colorado Book Award Winner. In my spare time I snowboard, coach and play soccer, and train in American Kenpo. I am also an editor at Kin Poetry Journal. A selection of my poems was included in the Best New African Poets 2015 anthology.
Cosmonaut Brief ca. 1965 Cosmos binds us in the people's kismet The glory of our cause is full of stars Go forth, hail all these worlds, comrade. Privet! The craters of the moon will serve our mindset: Greatness shapes in revolutionary scars; Cosmos binds us in the people's kismet. The great leap forward will have reached its target Once we've made commune with life on Mars; Go forth, hail all these worlds, comrade. Privet! Back home they'll check the progress of your rocket Huddled round radios and samovars; Cosmos binds us in the people's kismet. Your name will ring the ears of every cadet In designating galaxies and quasars; Go forth, hail all these worlds, comrade. Privet! Soon we'll launch our interstellar ramjet Reaching heights undreamt by even Tsars. Cosmos binds us in the people's kismet; Go forth, hail all these worlds, comrade. Privet! |
