I am 36 years of age. I live in Wales, UK. I write poetry as a means of expressing myself and trying to understand the world I live in. I have been published in Magma, Lampeter Review, The Reader, London Grip and others. I hope one day to write something special. I have a dog, Jasper, who is a much better poet than me....he's pawesome... I have a web site Gculshaw.co.uk
Before Me
I wasn’t expecting it as I headed
Up the lane for home
But before me, two fritillaries
Dancing mid air like two children
Dabbing painted hands on a sheet
Of paper; it was that sort of
Movement and I stood before it
Our stone cottage loomed behind
In the distance
But here I was, suspended in time
Then off they went, a chase, an escape
Into and beyond the nettles
I wasn’t expecting it as I headed
Up the lane for home
But before me, two fritillaries
Dancing mid air like two children
Dabbing painted hands on a sheet
Of paper; it was that sort of
Movement and I stood before it
Our stone cottage loomed behind
In the distance
But here I was, suspended in time
Then off they went, a chase, an escape
Into and beyond the nettles
Owls
Two owls calling across the field One flicking out the sound the other catching it back in his throat then slowly cooling it down from the heat of its sender. I am sure in time we will be able to see it through some device, such is the thunder of its journey; But for now I sit, listening as two owls pass a frisbee of love through the nightly air cracking dark matter, slicing falling stars, thinning out fog and whatever else comes their way |
