I love to laugh and make other people laugh. When my kids were little I made up silly stories for them — and then turned them into songs. Now I write poetry and short stories, all humorous. I've created a Zombie advice columnist, Hideous Hilda, who counsels needy zombies. I’ve also created a character called Anxietyman who always 'saves the day' even though he’s a neurotic nervous wreck. (Yes. I based him on me...) My poems and stories have been published online and in print.
Twilight Thoughts
Hey earth! I really had to hold on during
some of those revolutions of yours.
Hey moon! you sure put me through
some wild and crazy phases.
Hey sun! I’m counting on you to warm
up these old bones of mine.
Hey stars! I’m down here wishing that
I still have a few good years left.
Hey space! I’ve got one question for you.
Where the hell did the time go?
Swim Buddies
from my children's collection
I’ll swim in the water with a beaver or otter --
I’ll hold the fin on a dolphin for a swim --
I’ll swim with a seal pup if he can keep up --
I’ll paddle like a dog if I swim with a frog --
I’ll swim with a loon in a tropical lagoon --
I’ll swim if I wanna, but not with piranha.
Spider
from my children's collection
Spinning a web for her mate so strong —
Praying is he — sensing something is wrong —
Inch by inch he crawls slowly along —
Deadly fangs await — each a formidable prong —
Eight legs and eyes right where they belong —
Run male black widow! She’ll eat you before long.
