A Tissue of Your Tears
The sun went down so sadly,
as it set upon our wrath.
We fell asleep in separate rooms,
cruel words upon our breath.
Our love had shown like sunshine,
but now the storm clouds raged,
and like the deepest darkest night,
created loves lost ways.
I found a tissue of your tears,
on your pillow in our bed.
I thought about the night before,
in shame, I bowed my head.
I’d hurt the only one I love,
with hateful things I’d said.
I found a tissue of your tears,
on your pillow in our bed.
I found the note you wrote me,
upon the mantle ledge.
You said you understood my pain
and why I'd lost my head.
You said you still believed in me,
you’d help my heart to mend,
then reassured me of your love,
and signed it: your best friend.
