I’ve been planting bulbs: 60 crocus bulbs, some muscari, 32 winter aconites, and others.  I teach and it is very busy this semester.  We enjoyed the hummingbird feeder and miss them already. My new book, Bend of Quiet, is now available.  Blue Light Press.

In the Boar’s Bar after work
my co-worker Jake tells me
about his wonderful
forgiving wife, see,
he had an affair,
she kicked him out,
he texted her,
she had thought about it,
took him back,
made him popovers.
 
He has returned
to church, asks why don’t I
try being straight, I mean,
I might like it, and it’s not
so bad to be ordinary,
is it?
 
Jake doesn’t wait
for my answer—nervous
that I’m
gay
and open,
he orders a boilermaker
that he downs
in four swallows.
