March 2015
I'm a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a friend, a composer, a painter, a poet, and a retired music teacher. I'm an observant Jew and a diehard socialist. I'm 64 years old and I live in NYC with my wonderful wife, Susan. And even though I don't have a college degree in English, I am the editor of Verse-Virtual, the best online poetry journal in the world.
An Ordinary Conversation
-Hi JC — how are you?
-Fine thanks — and you?
-Fine thanks — some weather we're
having — sure is cold out there —
-Yeah — and before you know it — it'll be
hot as hell... How's your family?
-They're okay — yours?
-Good... Well... We've just about said
everything there is to say...
-Yeah — that about covers it. Have a
good one, JC —
-Et tu, Brute —
No Dinosaurs in Dallas
Tyrannosaurus Rexes
Aren't found in Texas,
So if you want to see 'em,
Go to a museum.
Why We're Here
Many times we wonder
What life is all about—
Too difficult to understand—
Too hard to figure out
An explanation decent
As to why we're here—
Although the simple reason is:
Because we aren't there.
