I live in Door County, WI, where I contemplate the beauty of lake and forest and mutter about the disharmonies of current events. My most recent chapbook is titled Now and Then. I co-authored Slightly off Q, which was nominated for a Pushcart prize, and Two off Q, which won an award as best chapbook of 2008 by the Wisconsin Library Association, and have had individual poems appear in a number of anthologies and poetry journals.
War 2005
We’re never told how many people die
How many families will drown in tears
We know our government is apt to lie
We cannot find the truth although we try
Our protests seem to fall on deafened ears
We’re never told how many people die
Who hears Iraqui children when they cry
How many bear the burden of their fears
We know our government is apt to lie
Our missiles trail destruction through the sky
No probability of changing gears
We’re never told how many people die
They twist the truth in order to deny
The world regards us all with scorn and jeers
We know our government is apt to lie
While news reports will often falsify
We’ve lost the virtue cherished through the years
We’re never told how many people die
We know our government is apt to lie
