July 2015
I am currently a senior at Westfield State University where I am majoring in English with a concentration in Literature. During the school year, I work at the Ely Campus Library as a Stacks Assistant. I live in a very small town in Western Massachusetts where I spend my time reading, writing, and geocaching. I have a huge love for libraries due to my mother practictally rearing my siblings and me in our local libraries.
Temporality
Who is the funeral for?
My idea.
How old was it?
It was short lived. A few moments, at best.
Did it go peacefully?
It would have, were it not for me.
What do you mean?
In its final moments, I tried to grab onto it
And pull it back before it faded away.
What happened next?
Snubbing my attempts at retention,
Taunting me with its possibilities,
It slowly flickered away —
Until I couldn't remember its features.
If you can't remember your idea, then why are you mourning?
I mourn for the feeling my lost idea has left behind —
The gaps it has left in my mind.
Do you have any regrets?
No, it is better to be aware of your lost ideas
Then never to have any ideas at all.
