I love to laugh and make other people laugh. When my kids were little I made up silly stories for them — and then turned them into songs. Now I write poetry and short stories, all humorous. I've created a Zombie advice columnist, Hideous Hilda, who counsels needy zombies. I’ve also created a character called Anxietyman who always 'saves the day' even though he’s a neurotic nervous wreck. (Yes. I based him on me...) My poems and stories have been published online and in print.
Tree of Heaven
Down fell the tree that once stood so tall —
Its crashing noise no one heard at all —
A ‘tree of heaven’ as I recall —
Perhaps God above heard the tree fall.
Wordsmith
He shoots from the hip,
He’s quick with a quip,
Whipping round a whirlwind of words.
A purveyor of puns,
Reciting riddles on the run,
Tall tales and tongue twisters he turns.
He’s fast with a phrase,
Determined to daze,
Sarcastic, satiric, and swift.
Test him and get burned,
Wry digs he’ll return,
When it comes to words he’s a smith.
Fork in the Road
I thought I was at a fork in the road
Choosing the way to my dream —
At the fork I did sit —
In and out it did flit —
“it’s a nightmare!” I started to scream.
At a fork in the road I thought I was
Choosing the best way to take —
At the fork I did yell,
“Both ways go to Hell!”
Cause the fork was the tongue of a snake.
