January 2015
I was born in Calabar, Nigeria and lived, among other places, in Egypt and England before settling near Boulder, Colorado with my wife and four children. I'm a computer engineer by trade, but poetry is my passion. My chapbook, Ndewo, Colorado is a Colorado Book Award Winner. In my spare time I snowboard, coach and play soccer, and train in American Kenpo. I am also an editor at Kin Poetry Journal.
Long, hungry walk
Sudden new slightness,
Alien tuck of fresh frailty;
Familiarity breathes
Bubbles before eyes each step:
Air in fruit teases cravings.
The Word Lunch
Just when the sun's lean
Parallels your hike's angle
What in the word lunch
Takes on sound beyond its vowel,
Concords beyond consonants.
18th Anniversary
-for Lori-
We've come to 18 years;
Had we been shotgun wed,
At issue would by now be
near majority bred.
But rather our four year
Sweet pastry margin makes
A whoop! slingshot over
Four first birthday cakes.
Thus I still look forward
From bedlam of our home
To once again sweet margin
Of you and me alone.
