January 2015
Before I drag my butt into work every morning, I sit in my car in parking lots—the only public places left that don't come with a soundtrack--and read poetry. Currently, I'm into Merrill Gilfillan, Steve Scafidi, Tom Clark and Tom Hennen. My new book of poems is Appalachian Night. It is available from me at no cost: just email chineseplums@gmail.com.
After a Panic Attack, She Lies Down in the Grass and Gazes at the Stars
join me
she says
her words
a ladder
safety being
someone
else to see
the universe
is in fact
on fire
Trailer Rain
the room
darkens
for music
from another room

Honey,
I mean the way God
purrs,
you pour.
In Between Hospital Visits
Good to be still,
to hold the cold
pump and pump gas
Good to breathe the smell
of going fast,
to hold
two things in opposition,
not be held
by one
