Despite being a life-long consumer of poetry, I spent 22 years in manufacturing before my muse awoke and dragged herself out of bed. I sympathize with poor and working people and I advocate for peace and against corporate power. My poetry has appeared in Verse Wisconsin, Blue Collar Review, Stoneboat and a few other publications. My first chapbook, Who Are We Then?, was published in 2013 by Partisan Press. You can find more of my poetry and other great poetry here: http://littleeaglereverse.blogspot.com/
"The Moon is Always Female"
-Marge Piercy
Why does the sun get the starry male lead
in the cosmic soap opera
while the moon either
hides her face in his light
or reflects that light
in his absence?
And why is she the temperamental
sensitive one
causing tides of watery emotion,
only very rarely
eclipsing the shining star?
And even then, we mustn’t look.
We must avert our eyes
from her boldness.
Why the Earth is Green, Mars is Red, and Venus is Shrouded
When they saw Earth
looking on with envy,
Venus covered up
and Mars withdrew
embarrassed.
