August 2015
Last minute training for NYC Olympic Triathlon in July, and starting to teach “Easy Yoga” or chair yoga to seniors at a local library. An homage to Elizabeth Bishop’s "In the Waiting Room" has been accepted by Negative Capability, and Hippocampus Magazine just posted a short creative non-fiction piece on lessons learned, or not learned, from aging.
Waffles Still Exist
I searched Google the other day
Why anything doesn’t exist
Including us, and stuff, then
Scrolled through days & days
Of opinions brilliant & not
About why & why not then
It occurred to me we need
A garage to put stuff in
A garage for pyramids
The Temple, Al-Aksa Mosque,
Disneyworld, cyclones,
Sunsets & people making
More people, & clothes
& cars & bubblers & plastic
To carry stuff back
To the garage but
Most of all to be able
To touch the switch
Listen to the electricity
Buzz through the wires
Watch the door creep
Down its track so everyone
Can feel safe until it’s
Safe to awaken when all
Want to see what’s outside
Who said what & why
So many waffles still exist.
