The Awkward Burger Tale
I can’t tell you how desperate I was
To get that juicy burger in my paws
All that gooey, lovely cheese
And meaty goodness – yes please!
I drooled as I took my first bite
But gasped in horror – what a sight!
A long hair, direct from a redhead
I am blonde! Oh, this I what I dread!
Disaster! I shall fight – I’ll not sleep
I shall work day and night, sweep
Streets until the owner I do find
The one who blew my tiny mind!
How dare they poison my juicy burger?
I wonder if I can issue a court order!
In a rage I climb off my perch
So determined to go in search
Justice shall be served; it’ll be mine
Come to me you hairy little swine!
Up to the manager I feverishly charged
He spoke in a way that only enlarged
My anger, frustration and disgust
He stared in my eyes with little trust
I’m pretty sure I saw the ol’ man chuckle
I told him what for, he was starting to buckle
What’s so funny you weedy punk?
Did you know you smell like a skunk?
Ma’am it’s tricky, I wish no umbrage
Do you look in mirrors in this day and age?
I was quite confused, how terribly rude!
The ol’ man offered a mirror he’d accrued
Oh, wow! How frightfully awkward!
I stood a second as my mind whirred!
How does one forget dying their hair?
I totally forgot, blonde to red, I swear!
I turned on my heel and ran!
That’s when my burger fear first began.
Autumn Love
As I look at thee, my love
I spy the perfect flow of colour
Like a glorious day of autumn
With tree’s leaves painted gold
Leaves that float into the night
In awe I see thy beauty
Thy words sound of beauty
As I speak to thee, my love
Whispers echoing into night
Words fill my heart with colour
Moments worthy of pure gold
Warmth creeps through autumn
Feel that dying breeze of autumn
The last butterfly shows its beauty
Showering us with specks of gold
As I lie with thee, my love
Together we see rainbow colour
Slowly turn into shadows of night
That starry sky of the night
Gently covered by clouds of autumn
Morning grey fails to mask the colour
Magical trees of purest beauty
As I walk with thee, my love
We smell blossoms with scents of gold
Round thy feet are shades of gold
Only silhouetted by the night
As I dance with thee, my love
In the mystical realms of autumn
There is no need for fallen beauty
We move as one in fields of colour
As one we remark upon the colour
The skies of blue and seas of gold
Only with thee I share such beauty
Shining even in the dead of night
We shall meet again each autumn
As I share my life with thee, my love
Thy true love fills me with colour
Those autumn days masked with gold
Late at night thou show thy beauty
Malawi
A place I once did live
As a child full of joy and play
Happy memories flood back
Though with added tears
But memories overshadow
A place I once did live
With solid cores of sadness
A secret domain of poverty
Death stories - just a slice
Of a child’s pure innocence
A place I once did live
This home I knew, in reverse
Lake Malawi full of beauty
A lake to hold all the woes
Yet they all dance and smile
A place I once did live
