I'm a retired music teacher who -- besides music -- enjoys painting and writing. My poems have been published online and in print. If you want to see some of my paintings and read more of my poems, please visit http://www.firestonefeinberg.com
Apples are the best of fruits...
Apples are the best of fruits
Never do they let you down
Mackintosh and Granny Smith
Cortland, Baldwin, Crab, and Rome.
Then we've got Delicious, too --
(Don't forget the cool Macoun)
Matters not the one you pick:
Every apple takes you home.
There comes a magic with the night...
There comes a magic with the night
That disappears at dawn --
And stays away until the light
Of day is done and gone.
It has to do with whispering --
And stillness in the air --
And candle-fires flickering --
And shadows everywhere.
And who doesn't feel its presence --
And know its traffic well --
Though be it an experience
That none will ever tell.
The editor...
The editor
sits
at his desk
puts
a sheet of paper in
the typewriter
looks
at the blank page
sighs
picks up
a dictionary
puts on
his spectacles
reads
something
weeps
The editor
thinks
for a long time
then
types
a few words
stops
closes
the dictionary
closes
his
eyes
sleeps
