December 2014
I live and work in Minneapolis. I am a recent college graduate with degrees in philosophy and literature. I have an experimental literary novel forthcoming and various poetry publications in Blue Lake Review, Poetry Pacific Magazine, Indiana Voice Journal, Burningword Literary Journal, and others. Originally I was planning on law school or a PHD in philosophy before deciding to pursue poetry and writing fulltime as a "career." Somehow, the reality of digging through tombs of dusty legal precedents or teaching Logic 101 all day every day lost their luster quite quickly.
Hunger of the World
The world is starved
Hungry searching
Scavenging soot
Through endless tons
Of plastic waste
Waves of wrappers
Blanket the earth
Ghastly bottles
Starbucks cup mounds
Cigarette butts
Fine furniture
Trashed TVs
Year old I-phones
Wasted good food
Through the desert
Primate eyes stare
Barren landscape
Pastel wasteland
Can beauty still
Be found within
Trashed profane ground?
The Rational Mind
Plan plan plan
Plan away
Ordered court
Toy hammer
Logical
Positive
Confidant
Rational
Practical
Extravert
Small Talker
Life is good
Certainly
I know so
Little globe
Revolving
Spinning round
Round again
Warm cold warm
Light dark light
Rise set rise
Work sleep work
Suppressing
Hume’s horrors
Life contained
Life drained
Creative
Thoughts insane
Justify
Inhumane
If it means
Feigned veil of
Causality
