Just moved to Ephrata, PA, the Biblical name of Bethlehem. If I don’t write a poem for next xmas, I should be shot.
So Easily Do Women Weep
So easily do women weep
you wonder why the seas don’t overflow
and though a man may sorrow just as deep
the depth of grief we keep
is something she must never know
so easily do women weep.
Whatever frets and failures trouble sleep
always must be stowed below
although a man may sorrow just as deep
yet know whatever tears they reap
will still exceed the tears we sow
so easily do women weep.
And if a spring will sometimes seep
from underneath the stoic snow
to show a man may sorrow just as deep,
and prove the price of silence far too steep,
the cost of it must never show
so easily do women weep
though men may sorrow just as deep.
