Less to Remember, Less to Forget
Gone is the sweet story of how we met.
When I’m dead, gone, I care for the dead part.
There’s less to remember, less to forget.
When we first loved, our future was well set.
I’ll take your touch, dear, you can keep my heart.
Gone is the true story of how we met.
I’ve lost my keys, my cell phone, and my pets;
they can have them all in a shopping cart.
Much less to remember, less to forget.
So hard to stay straight, keep loss separate
when you try to love twenty years apart.
Long was our time, story of how we met.
Now I’m lying here, alone, past upset,
easy for you to find a brand new start—
hey, less to remember, less to forget?
You sang I’m on fire during your first set
and shot right through me with your fiery art.
Now gone’s the sweet story of how we met.
Less to remember, so less to forget.
