I live with my wife in a small one story Cream City Brick house built in the 1920's in a small village just across the street from the Big Milwaukee city. I retired from teaching in 2012 after 30 years of public service at the University of Wisconsin--Whitewater. Though my two books and five chapbooks of poetry are all out of print, I am still writing and hopeful.
Last Wishes
Let them plow me into the fields.
Let me drift as ash in the blue sky.
Let me not be prayed over all night.
Just drag me across the ocean floor
So I can provide food
For all tiny crustaceans.
Come feast with me.
Let the crows gnaw on fresh eyes.
Let the little four footed creatures
Sniff and feed all their way through who I was.
Then let the maggots and bugs join me.
Let the Sun bake my bones.
So we’re clear, then, no box, no silk,
No Yitgadal, no tears, no standing
Around wondering what’s for lunch.
No distilling what now is Not.
